Sadler’s Wells Premiere, June 2008

In June 2008, Sang Jijia performed in London at Sadler’s Wells, one of the world’s premier venues for dance. Sang presented a new solo, Snow, and a duo, Duet, performed with Sheu Fang-Yi, an acclaimed dancer from Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan. The performance was followed by a discussion between the former Rolex protégé and British choreographer Fin Walker.

Duet premiered in New York in November 2007 during the Rolex Arts Weekend.

Sang Jijia spent a total of four years in Germany working with his Rolex mentor, pioneering American choreographer William Forsythe, beginning with their mentorship year in 2002/2003. Sang, a Chinese-Tibetan dancer and choreographer, has since returned to China where he is the resident artist with the Beijing LDTX Modern Dance Company. He also creates pieces for the Guangdong Modern Dance Company. These works have drawn widespread praise and invitations to show in various European cities.

In addition to his activities with these two companies, Sang works independently, performing solos and ensembles with different dancers.
